Learn how to invite people to your family account, and suspend or delete their accounts.

After you’ve created your account, you can add and remove family members at any time.

To add family members to your account:

Select your account or collection at the top of the sidebar, then select Manage Accounts.
Select the account you want, then select People > Invite People.
Enter the email addresses for the people you’d like to invite, then select Invite.

Select Invite by Email and enter their email address.
Select Invite.

Familienmitglieder entfernen

If you’re a family organizer, you can remove someone from your family account. Select People in the sidebar on 1Password.com to either suspend accounts temporarily or remove them permanently.

Select the name of the person you want to suspend to open their details page.
On their details page, select More Actions, then select Suspend.

They lose all the items in their Private vault. Because the items weren’t shared with any other family members, no one will be able to access them.
They lose access to all shared items, including those in the Shared vault. This won’t affect other family members’ access to shared items.

Select People in the sidebar.
Select the name of the person you want to remove to open their details page.
On their details page, select More Actions, then select Delete.

Get help

Invitations expire after 5 days. You can resend an invitation at any time.

If a family member needs to transfer 1Password data from a former account after accepting their invitation to join the family account, ask them to follow these steps:

Make sure they’re signed in to both accounts in one of the 1Password apps.
Use the app to move or copy items from their former account into their new account.
Sign out of their former account in the app.

After they transfer their 1Password data into their new account, they can cancel the subscription for their former account or choose to delete it.

If you need to change a family member’s name, select People in the sidebar, then select their name and select Edit Details.
