Verwalte 1Password für Unternehmen als MSP

Learn how to manage 1Password for companies as a managed service provider (MSP).

With 1Password Enterprise Password Manager - MSP Edition, you can set up and manage 1Password for companies you work with as a service provider.

After you set up the account and add technicians, you can add companies that you want to manage.

Before you add a company, make sure your MSP account is in the same region as the company you’ll be managing. You can only manage accounts in your account’s region.

You’ll also need an Owner, Administrator, or person who belongs to the MSP Technicians group in your MSP account.

  1. Sign in to your MSP account on 1Password.com.
  2. Choose Managed Companies in the sidebar. To remove sorting or filters that you’ve applied, choose Clear all at the top right of the page.

    • If you want to create a new account for the company, choose Add a new company and continue to the next step.
    • If you want to link an existing account, choose Link an existing account and follow the onscreen instructions.
  4. Enter the company’s name and add its website if you’d like.
  5. Select the country or region the company is located in, then enter its address information and choose Save.

    This does not affect the region the company's account is located in. Your MSP account and a managed company must be in the same data region to be linked.

After you add the managed company, choose the launch button beside it to sign in, then follow the steps to set it up. If you need to stop managing a company in the future, learn how to unlink it.

  1. Create team policies, custom groups, and vaults to share items.
  2. Implement a recovery plan.
  3. Invite team members and set up automated provisioning if the company uses an identity provider.
  4. Deploy 1Password for Mac and Windows.

You’ll be an administrating the account, so you may want to learn more about getting started with 1Password as an administrator.

Tip

If you want to co-own an account with someone at the managed company, add them to the Owners group in the account.

If you want to allow someone to co-manage the account with you, add them to the Administrators group so they can perform administrative tasks, such as account recovery for team members.

To manage your companies, sign in to your MSP account on 1Password.com and choose Managed Companies in the sidebar.

Filtern und sortieren

You can search for a company by name, or sort by status or filled seats. To remove sorting or filters that you’ve applied, choose Clear all at the top right of the page.

View shared vaults and items

You can view shared vaults and items within an account you manage. Launch into the account, then choose Vaults in the sidebar, select a vault, and give yourself access to it if you don’t already have it. Then choose View Vault.

Konten wiederherstellen

If team members in a managed company’s account have lost access, you can recover their accounts so they can sign back in. An administrator from the company can also help recover accounts, so you may want to add someone to the Administrators group to help with this in the future.

  • Someone in the account will need to manage it as an Owner going forward. Launch into the managed company you want to unlink, then add someone to the Owners group first.
  • After the account is unlinked, it’ll be placed on a 14-day free trial and can be used normally until the end of that period. Someone in the Owners group will need to subscribe to 1Password or link the account to another MSP to continue using it after the trial has ended.
  • You can transfer an account to another MSP by unlinking it and asking someone in the Owners group to follow the steps to link an existing account.

To unlink a company, make sure least one person is in the account’s Owners group. Then follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your MSP account on 1Password.com.
  2. Choose Managed Companies in the sidebar.
  3. Find the company and choose the ellipsis > Unlink.
